All schools in West Franklin USD 287 and Wellsville USD 289 are closed today because of extensive localized flooding. Heavy rains have caused flash-flooding across the area. At about 6 this morning, water rescue teams rescued someone standing of top of a flooded car near Marshall and Nevada roads east of Ottawa. A woman was rescued without injury. At the same time, Wellsville firefighters were summoned to check on a submerged vehicle. The rescues are among several going on in the area as heavy rains have caused extensive flash-flooding. Louisburg firefighters were also checking on another submerged vehicle along U.S. 69 south of 363rd Street.
