LAWRENCE – A 75-year-old pedestrian killed early Saturday morning while he was walking along K-10 near Lawrence has been identified as Douglas Petty, 74, Leawood. Petty was killed shortly before 5 a.m. On sept. 9, 2017, after he was struck by a vehicle while he was walking on the highway, just west of County Road 1057. It’s unknown why he was on K-10, said Kristen Channel, Douglas County Sheriff’s Department. The driver of the vehicle that struck the man stayed at the scene after the collision, she said.
