OTTAWA — Franklin County will look at joining Osage, Coffey and Wabaunsee counties in a public health cooperative that will coordinate and share some public health services. The four counties will share a $20,000 grant to study the proposal, said Franklin County public health director Midge Ransom. The pressure on public health services is increasing at a time when many counties are scaling back or terminating their health departments, she said. The state has been looking at ways to encourage departments to help each other, she said. Commissioners agreed to accept the grant Wednesday.
