GARDNER — A Miami County man was killed while he was walking along a road early Saturday morning. Brian Phillips, 45, was walking along Moonlight Road, just south of the 223 Street intersection, south of Gardner; when Mason Findley, 26, driving a 2003 Mazda SUV south on Moonlight, struck Phillips shortly after 6:30 a.m., said Miami County Undersheriff Wayne Minckley. Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene. He lived in the area and was known to walk that stretch of road, Minckley said. Phillips was wearing dark clothes at the time of the crash.
