OTTAWA — A fast-moving thunderstorm blew through Ottawa and Franklin County packing strong winds, heavy rains and lightning Saturday evening. There were several reports of power outages across Ottawa and in areas outside of Ottawa. Several people reported trees and limbs were knocked down across the area and snapped power line poles at Orlis Cox Ballpark. Some homes received some damage from falling branches and the winds. Hail ranging from pea- to golfball-size pelted the Garnett and Richmond area. One Ottawa woman reported to KOFO Radio that the wind knocked over a Price Chopper employee, skinning her knee and scattering the contents of her purse across the parking lot. She helped the employee catch and pick up some of her credit cards and some cash but they couldn’t find her driver’s license or medication. There wasn’t an immediate estimate on damage or if there were any injuries reported.
