OTTAWA — Ottawa has been placed under a water-boil advisory this afternoon because of air getting into the system earlier today. The Kansas Dept. of Health and Environment advised the city to issue the advisory, said Ottawa utilities director Dennis Tharp. “We are currently doing testing to make sure there are no foreign particles in the water but until we’ve done we cannot verify that,” Tharp said. How long the boil-water advisory continues is still unknown, he said. “This should not last a long time but we do have to go through a testing process with KDHE which will require some time.” Tharp asks the public for vigilance and if necessary to boil their water and for patience until the testing is done. KOFO will have as soon as they are available.
