TOPEKA – An Osage County magistrate judge and two assistant Lyon County attorneys have been nominated to succeed retired District Judge Phillip From me. The 4th Judicial District Nominating Commission nominated Magistrate Judge Taylor Wine, Lyndon; and two assistant county attorneys, Meghan Morgan, Burlington; and Darrel Smith, Emporia. Their names!es go to Gov. Sam Brownback, who has 60 days to select a judge. By state law, the winning nominee must live in Coffey County while serving as the judge. From retired Nov. 30. The 4th Judicial District is made up of Coffee, Franklin, Anderson and Osage counties. Members are James Campbell and Jim Dale, both of Burlington; Craig Cole of Garnett; Janet Walsh of Lyndon; Thomas DeBaun of Osage City; Forrest Lowry, Ottawa; Randall Renoud, Wellsville;and Eugene Highberger of Westphalia.
