OLATHE — A U-Haul van led law enforcement on a chase at speeds of up to 100 miles an hour on northbound I-35 Wednesday morning before it rolled and crashed on an exit ramp in Olathe. The Casey’s Store, 300 N. Main reported that the driver of a U-Haul van sped away without paying for fuel shortly after 11 a.m., according to the Ottawa Police Department, Law enforcement officers saw a van matching the Casey’s description heading north on I-35, and the driver tried to elude them. Officers deployed spike sticks at 167th Street in Olathe, causing tire damage, and the van began losing speed. The van tried to exit at Santa Fe Street, but the driver lost control on the ramp and the truck rolled over into a median. No one was injured. Bryan McPherson, 21, and Jennifer Lowry, 39, both of Arizona, were booked into the Franklin County jail for suspicion theft of motor fuel.
