OTTAWA- Does the City of Ottawa have sufficient fire protection coverage? That could be a big question in the years ahead….especially in south Ottawa. Fire Chief Tim Matthias says staffing could be a problem.
Currently, only one person is on staff to respond to fire issues at the south station, which has a large area of coverage including motels, schools and nursing homes.
Matthias has requested 19 thousand dollars in his new budget for a study on whether a fire station needs to be relocated in south Ottawa.
