Have you ever found something old like farm tools, pottery, arrowheads, or even old nails on your property? If you do find something potentially of historic value, do you know what to do with it? Can you keep it? The Franklin County Historical Society has the answer. They are hosting a program called “Archeology in Your Own Backyard” it will feature Kansas archeologist Aaron Colgrove who is the principal archeologist with Icarus Archeology and works in conjunction with multiple museums in eastern Kansas. The program will explore what archeology is and isn’t, he will explain some of the national and state laws, and debunk a few myths about discovering artifacts. It will be held Sunday at 2 in the afternoon at Neosho County community College. It is free and open to the public.
