Ottawa High School Junior, Callie Mongold, has been selected as the student artist intern to work with the professional artist, Dave Lowenstein, on the community butterfly project’s butterfly effect mural. The mural will depict a William H. Howe painting titled “Giant Swallowtails” on the wall of 415 S. Main Street, Ottawa. Mongold worked on the 2017 Ransom Memorial Hospital mural created by OHS students and faculty. She is an active member of the Ottawa High School Art Guild, and she sees this as an opportunity.
She adds that art in any form impacts people’s lives, but public art affects people much more directly.
