What does Prairie Paws Animal Shelter have to do with domestic abuse? Actually quite a lot it turns out, Melissa Reed is the Executive Director of Prairie Paws. She says a partnership with Willow Domestic Violence Shelter and other groups just started this year.
Reed says if her shelter picks up a pet in a domestic abuse situation, then the victim is more likely to leave home and seek safe shelter.
