A Kansas City man has drowned in a Linn County lake early Wednesday morning August the 8th, Linn County Sherif’s Deputies responded to a missing person at Tanglewood Lake.  Witnesses says that the victim had been swimming with them near a swimming platform, they saw him jump off the platform, and then some time later could not find him.  Officials searched the are and the lake in the early morning hours, but were unable to locate the victim. The search was called off until it was light enough to resume.

Officials with the Kansas Wildlife and Parks, using a patrol boat with sonar began searching the water about 8:30 that morning ans with help from the Osawatomie water rescue team recovered the body at about noon on Wednesday. The victim has been identified as 55-year-old Melvin Stier of Kansas City. The incident is still under investigation.
