The City of Ottawa Utilities Department has issued a statement outlining problems experienced in electric billings last month. In the statement, they say that just over 150 customers were billed for much lower amounts of electric usage than was actually consumed, resulting in under charged bills. While the following month’s readings were received and recorded correctly, the recorded usage was considerably higher due to the low amounts recorded in July. This resulted in these customers having much higher than normal bills due to the under charges in July. The Finance Department of the City of Ottawa has apologized for the frustration and inconvenience this has cause those who were affected. They have assured customers that precautions have been taken to prevent this issue from occurring in the future.
