A house that caught fire at 519 North King last weekend will not exist much longer. Ottawa Building Inspector Jim Sherman says the building has been plagued with suspicious activity for quite some time.
Sherman asked the City Commission for an emergency declaration that the house is unfit for habitation, bypassing the usual hearings for houses to be put on the condemned list. The Commission agrees to the request unanimously. Sherman says it could take a few days before demolition work begins.
