A 31-year-old woman convicted on two arson-related charges has been sentenced to two years in state prison.  Alesa Buchanan was sentenced during a hearing in Franklin County District Court.  Buchanan had earlier pleaded no contest to one count of attempted aggravated arson causing a substantial risk to great bodily harm, and one count of aggravated arson that posed no substantial risk to bodily harm.

In early April a fire destroyed a trailer home at 601 Burroughs Street, where three occupants were able to get out unharmed.  Four other homes were heavily damaged also.  Later that same morning, fire crews responded to Sun Tanning Studios in the 100 block of Main.  Buchanan was arrested a short time later in connection to both fires.  In August she pleaded no contest on charges of aggravated arson.
