A few months ago, the Franklin County Sheriff’s office seized about 55 horses from a property owned by James and Glenda Stokes near Pomona that were deemed in need of care. The sheriff’s office is now looking for people who are interested in owning one of the horses. A placement event will be held at the Lyon County Livestock Sale Barn in Emporia on Saturday, October 13th, at 10 in the morning. There is no cost for the adoption of the horses, but those interested must visit the Franklin County website to obtain a placement application. Applications must be turned in no later than October 6th.
Those adopting must bring a halter, lead rope, and an open stock trailer in good condition to the event. Trailers deemed unsafe will not be allowed to transport a horse. Only two animals per application are allowed. Any questions should be directed to the Franklin County Sherif’s Office and the application form can be found at franklincoks.org/equine.
