USD 290 and multiple agencies throughout the county presented “A Day On the Job” for high school seniors yesterday Tuesday September 25th. Students from Ottawa and West Franklin were shown the huge number of job opportunities we have right here at home in Franklin County. One point of the event is to convince kids that they don’t have to move to a big city to find jobs they want, many are available right here.
The day also has another purpose. USD 290 Superintendent Doctor Ryan Cobbs says this area is growing and students may have a new incentive to stay here and become the next wave of the workforce.
He adds that they are working with the Edgerton Economic Development Council to supplement “Day On the Job,” knowing there are jobs available just a few miles away that students may be interested in and with only having to drive a few miles, might keep them living in Ottawa.
