KANSAS CITY — The Federal Emergency Management Agency said one of the most important ways you can prepare for flooding is to buy flood insurance for your home. FEMA said you have to specifically buy flood insurance – most policies don’t offer it. FEMA said flood insurance is affordable. The average flood insurance policy costs approximately $400 a year and provides about $100,000 worth of coverage.
