A tragic accident just east of Ottawa last night Monday October 1rst, has claimed the lives of two Wellsville children and sent others to the hospital. According to the Kansas highway patrol, at 8:30 last night, a car driven by 31-year-old Clytie Bowden of Wellsville was traveling northbound on Tennessee Road and as she entered the intersection at K-68, was struck in the passenger side by a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Craig Evans of Ottawa.
Passengers in the vehicle driven by Bowden, 11-year-old Briana Sobba of Wellsville and 3-year-old Becham Kleman died as a result of the crash. Bowden was taken to research medical center for the treatment of her injuries. Two other passengers, 12-year-old Elle Bowden and 6-year-old Lillian Klemen, were first taken to Ransom Memorial Hospital, but they were later transferred to Children’s Mercy Hospital. Additionally, Evans was transported to Overland Park Regional hospital for treatment. The highway patrol says everyone was wearing their seatbelts.
