First responders with the Miami County Sheriff’s Office and the Osawatomie volunteer fire department rescued three people from a submerged pickup at 347th Street and Hedge Lane early Monday morning October 8th as flash flooding began in the area. Osawatomie Fire Chief Brian Love says that two vehicles were submerged. No injuries were reported. At least two other reports of cars in the water came in that morning, however, drivers of both vehicles were able to get out to safety on their own. Many roads in Miami County are still under water. Miami County Undersheriff Wayne Minkley urges motorists pay attention and to not drive around barricades or into a road covered with water.
