Republican Steve Watkins defeated Democrat Paul Davis to win the 2nd Congressional seat in Kansas, Watkins received 124,895 compared to Davis’ 120,421.
In the third congressional race, Democrat Charice Davids defeated four-term incumbent Republican Kevin Yoder. She becomes the first Native American woman elected to Congress as well as the first openly gay woman to represent Kansas.
In the 5th District Kansas House of Representatives race, Republican Mark Samsell beat Democrat Lacy Murphy Handly 5,597 to 2,070.
Finally, in the 59th District Kansas House of Representatives contest, incumbent Republican Blaine Finch cruised past challenger Democrat John Hall, with 5,899 votes to Halls 1,889. Finch says it came down to a matter of respect.
