OTTAWA — A national expert on the social impact of disasters will be this year’s Hostetter-DeFries Family speaker at Ottawa University April 14 and 15. Colorado State University professor Lori Peek will have two major presentations — “Blame and Backlash: Muslim Americans Aafter 9/11” on April 14; and “Human Behavior in Disaster: What We (Think) We Know” on April 15. Peek has served as a consultant for helping Gulf Coast communities after Hurricane Katrina. She has also written books about American Muslims after the 9-11 terrorism attack and about people who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
