The announcement yesterday that Ottawa Police Chief Dennis Butler was leaving Ottawa for a similar position in Riley County left many people wondering who may be named the next chief. City Manager Richard Niensted says the city will begin searching right away.
Butler has been Ottawa’s Chief since 2004. He has indicated his last day in Ottawa will be sometime in December and his first day in Riley County will be December 26th.
