It’s not normal that a discussion of the Franklin County Planning Commission results in an argument, but the exception became reality during the regular county commission meeting. Joe Ferguson of Ottawa had applied for a position on the planning commission but apparently was never considered. Ferguson told county commissioners that someone on the county payroll is selecting candidates, and it elicited a response from County Administrator Derek Brown.
Brown says he was asked by commission chairman Randall Renoud to recommend candidates for the position, and that is what he did.
