Ottawa City Manager Richard Nienstedt has hired several police chiefs in his career as city manager and the process is always a hard one. He says as a law officer and a person, Butler is top notch.
He added that the process to replace Bulter would begin soon. Butler recently accepted the position of director of the Riley County Police Department.
