The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant last week on a property in the 800 block of east 8th Street and searched an old well for evidence on a cold case homicide there are five homicides in Franklin County that have not been resolved, dating back to 1973. Sheriff Jeff Richards explains what a cold case actually is.
He adds that the evidence gained from the investigation has brought them new information in regards to the case they are working on and that new technology is allowing the investigation to continue. The sheriff’s department has an officer assigned exclusively to cold cases.
