A reception honoring Ottawa police chief Dennis Butler will be held today from 1 to 3 at Neosho County Community College. Butler has been police chief in Ottawa for the past 14 years and has recently announced that he will be leaving Ottawa to take the of Director of the Riley County Police Department in Manhattan. Everyone in Ottawa is invited to attend the reception. There will be remarks by various local dignitaries and a plaque presentation to chief Butler. His first day on the job in Riley County is slated for the December 26th.
