Kansas Day is Tuesday January 29th marking the state’s 158th anniversary as a state. At the regular Ottawa city commission meeting, the proclamation the commission normally issues took on a little different twist. Rita Nienstedt accepted the proclamation… And her husband happens to be city manager Richard Nienstedt. Mrs. Nienstedt says she likes to remember the state’s anniversary by thinking about its history… And she remembers a sign she saw in Ness County Kansas.
