BURLINGTON — A 28-year-old Emporia man was injured and taken to Coffey County Hospital in Burlington after his car collided head-on with a semi-truck on I-35 in Coffey County. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Joshua Widener was driving south in the north-bound lanes early Friday when he hit a north-bound semi driven by Julio Calderon of Conna, Texas. Widener’s car spun into the ditch and caught fire. He wasn’t wearing safety restraints, troopers said. Calderon’s truck rolled over in a ditch. Calderon wasn’t injured. He was wearing a safety restraint, troopers said.
