A house fire a few miles northwest of Garnett early Monday morning January the 7th destroyed the home of Tim and Stephaine King. Fire units from Garnett, Harris and Welda responded. Upon arrival, they found the entire residence fully engulfed in flame. Fortunately, Stephaine, her four children and their grandfather were all able to get out safely. Stephaine says the fire started on a back porch and they initially tried to put down the flames themselves but quickly realized it was beyond their control and her father in law screamed to evacuate…

The Kings did get a little assistance from the red cross and are staying with family in the Olathe area for a while. Stephaine says they are in great need of coats for the kids. If you would like to help the family gather clothes for the kids, particularly coats, they have a 7 year old girl who wears size 10-12, 5 year old twin boys in size 5-6, and an 18 month girl in size 2-t. Contact KOFO for information about where to drop off items or bring them by the station and we will make they get them.
