OTTAWA — Franklin County has issued a burn ban for today. The National Weather Service office at Topeka has issued a fire weather watch for today for Franklin, Anderson, Osage and Coffey counties. The weather service says that the rangeland fire danger index for Franklin County will be in the extreme category this afternoon. Warm temperatures, gusty south winds, and low humidity levels this afternoon will make it dangerous for outside fires. The weather says fires will start quickly, spread furiously and burn intensely.
