Construction of Legacy Square has begun and if you have a car in the parking lot on Walnut from second to first streets, you need to move it to avoid it being towed. The Ottawa Polic Department, has begun the process of clearing the parking lot. Fencing has been installed today, Wednesday March 6th, and the lot will be cleared of vehicles. Officers are contacting the owners of those vehicles and asking them to move them out of the lot. Also, Walnut from second to first has become one way… North, and first street is one way… East, from Walnut. Tomorrow, Thursday March 7th, officers may start relocation vehicles so fencing can be secured and construction can begin. According to Interim Police Chief Adam Weingartner, the Police Department will exhaust all measures to contact the owners of the vehicles before relocating them. The department will remain flexible and remain responsive to requests from business owners, downtown residents, contractors and motorists.
