There are still stray cats in Ottawa… But the numbers are dwindling. And that’s primarily due to efforts by Prairie Paws Animal Shelter and other partners to sterilize cats so their numbers don’t get out of control. At the regular Ottawa city commission study session, Prairie Paws Executive Director Melissa Reed and Commissioner Mike Skidmore discussed a recent sizable grant from PETCO to continue to trap, neuter and return stray cats. Reed says she had requested 32 hundred dollars.
Reed says it’s probably impossible to eliminate ferrell cats, and it’s more realistic to keep their populations under control.
