The public assessment of the Ottawa Police Department will take place today. As the department looks to recertify with the commission on accreditation for law enforcement agencies, also known as Calea.
Community development Director Wendy Lee encourages people to call in or come in to share information with the assessors.
Only a handful of police departments in Kansas have earned the Calea accreditation.
