POMONA — A debate concerning the Pomona City Council lasted more than an hour and a half – and none of the candidates showed up. At the candidates’ forum Friday night, one of the organizers, Marie Seneca read a copy of a letter from the city’s insurance carrier to candidates advising them not to show up. The insurance company is already handling at least two claims involving the city. The city council election has been overshadowed by a bitter dispute and court battle between Mayor Joanne Hancock and most members of the city council.
