POMONA — For voters in Pomona, Garnett, Osawatomie and Paola, Tuesday is election day. Franklin County Clerk said polls in Pomona will be open from 7 to 7 Tuesday. Although Perry said the votes will be hand-counted in her office, she said it shouldn’t take too long for the results to be known. She said she’s hoping for a better turnout than last month’s primary. Voters will pick three members of the Pomona City Council.
Those running include Rick Smith, Richard Adler, Don Lockaby, Marie Whitaker, Jerry Slavins, Walter Cunningham and Rex Hancock. The race have been overshadowed by a long-running dispute and a court battle between Mayor Joanne Hancock, who is the wife of Rex Hancock; and most members of the city council.
