Fifty-five new law enforcement officers graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement training center recently. The new officers were members of the 256th basic training class at the center. The graduates represent 38 municipal, county and state law enforcement agencies across Kansas. Among those officers are two who will be working in Franklin County. Carson Dunlap will be working as a deputy for the Franklin County Sheriff’s office and Jeffrey Morris will begin duty as a patrol officer for the Ottawa Police Department. Ottawa Police Cheif Adam Weingartner says, “The training center provides a valuable service.”

The center was established in 1968 and about 300 officers enroll annually for the 14-week basic training programs. The center offers continuing education and specialized training to over 10 thousand officers each year.
