The only thing standing in the way of an electric rate increase for Ottawa customers is the City Commission. During the Commission study session, utilities Director Dennis Tharp spelled out his request.
Tharp says, “The big increases are needed to restore integrity to the electric fund because expenses are outrunning revenues. Several Commissioners appeared alarmed at the big increases and inquired about other rates being phased in. The Commission plans to take up the matter again at its September 9th study session.”
