OTTAWA — The cause of this morning’s fire at a modular home in the 700 block of South Cypress is under investigation. Assistant Ottawa Fire Chief Richard Oglesby said a neighbor reported the fire and no one was in the house when firefighters arrived at about 3 a.m. Light smoke was coming out of the house when firefighters arrived, Oglesby said. According to initial reports, neighbors reported hearing loud booms prior to the fire. Oglesby said the Kansas Fire Marshal has been asked to take part in a joint investigation with Ottawa police and the fire department.
