GARNETT — Anderson County has received a disaster designation. Because the county is next door to primary natural disaster areas Allen and Linn counties, it was also included in the designation. The disaster designation is because of excessive rain in late 2009. Franklin, Miami and Coffey counties were also included. Anderson County Farm Service Agency executive director Jolene Alexander said emergency farm loans will be available for farmers who have had at least a 10 percent loss to a crop. Anderson County was also in an agricultural disaster area in 2008. However, only a handful of producers applied for assistance for that year, she said.
