COLONY — Beginning next fall, Crest students will be released from school 25 minutes early every Wednesday afternoon. Crest Superintendent Lee Jones told the Anderson County Review that the students’ time off will allow teachers to work on a new program called MTSS or Multi Tier System of Support. MTSS is a highly structured program that helps give more support to students who are behind, he said. The board decided to try the early release of students because the district can’t afford the overtime for holding teachers after school for MTSS work, Jones said. The early release won’t have any impact on the school’s calendar otherwise, he said.
