OTTAWA — Franklin County Sheriff Craig Davis said he can point to several accomplishments but he believes his greatest will be the new computerized central records and data system that links his department and the Ottawa and Wellsville police departments. Using state and federal grants, the departments were able to put computer terminals in every patrol car in the county and cities. That will make officers more effective and efficient and postpone the need to hire additional officers in the future, he said. Davis, in his 10th year as sheriff, will step down July 1 so he can care for his father. At 34 years, Davis is the longest-serving member of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, starting as a reserve deputy. Franklin County Republican committee members will pick his successor Monday night.
