The Osawatomie’s small-town holiday festival kicks off today and there is a full day of activities planned to get, and keep, people in the holiday spirit at the loft at 6th, city auditorium and John Brown State Park.
From 10-2 at the loft on 6th holiday vendors will be on hand for Christmas shopping; the Osawatomie chamber will offer crafts for kids of all ages; there will be a coloring contest for kindergarten through fifth grade and drawings for a chance to win a holiday ham from cow palace. From 10 til noon the annual kids paint party in the social room at the loft. From 11 to 1, Santa Claus will be available to visit with children and photo ops.
From 2:30-4:30 the “Polar Express” will be showing, and kids are invited to wear their jammies while sipping on hot cocoa and eating cookies during the movie. Blankets and pillows are also welcome. It doesn’t stop there, later in the afternoon at city auditorium at 5:30 the mayor’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony in front of City Hall, the downtown lighting ceremony. But the fun isn’t over! Head on over to John Brown Memorial Park from 7 to 9 for an old fashion Christmas, plus a visit from Santa himself that evening at the Adair Cabin.
