The power of Mother Nature gave a Hutchinson family the fright of their lives Friday night when their pickup truck was struck by lightning on I-35, just outside of Ottawa. The lightning struck caused the truck to go airborne and the truck slid to the side of the road. Angel Gillihan says the family had to act quickly.
The family of five scrambled into the ditch and waited for the first responders to get there and watch their truck go up in flames. John Gillihan says he credits a higher power for saving them.
A passerby stopped and let the family sit in their car while a family member came from Hutchinson to pick them up. Angel Gillihan adds she is thankful for all the help they received. A video of the incident is posted on the KOFO Facebook page.
