The Ottawa Police Department will join many other police agencies across the state, including the Kansas Highway Patrol, in the Kansas Thanksgiving Safe Arrival traffic enforcement campaign. A grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation will underwrite overtime enforcement efforts that specifically aim at removing impaired drivers from out roads and ticketing vehicle occupants who are unrestrained or whose child passengers are unrestrained.
Sergeant Casey Gillmore of Ottawa Police Department says there is one day of the year that is most concerning.
He adds that if you are going to be drinking any amount, don’t even think about driving. Don’t let your pride endanger your life and the lives of innocent people. Don’t drink and drive, buckle up and you can preserve life, maybe your own.
