KANSAS CITY – A newly unsealed indictment adds two new defendants and adds more charges against a group of people from Lawrence accused of being in a counterfeiting ring, said U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch. Those facing federal charges of counterfeiting and identity theft include Donald Milton Steele, Randy Jay Dyke, Anthony Wayne Sims and Kimberly Cline, all of Lawrence; and Robert Billinger, Kimberling, Mo. Welch said counterfeit currency was printed in Topeka and used to buy a wide variety of merchandise, including marijuana. The ring also used stolen checkbooks and credit cards to buy merchandise. Some of the defendants are also charged with making and selling methamphetamine and selling hydrocodone, methadone and marijuana.
