Ottawa has been announced as a host city for the Bike Across Kansas Event. The event will be held this summer. Bike Across Kansas is a major event for cyclists in Kansas, with up to 800 riders taking part in the eight day tour across the state to promote health and wellness through bicycling, the history of Kansas and the warm hospitality of the Kansas towns and people. Franklin County Tourism Director Susan Rader says,
President of Ottawa Chamber of Commerce, John Coen says that Ottawa supports biking and active transportation locally and now people from all across Kansas will experience the infrastructure the city has created in Ottawa to boost healthy living.
The BAK will begin on the Colorado border on June 6th and travel East across the state. The group of 800 riders and their support groups will begin arriving in Ottawa on June 12th bringing up to 3,000 people to town.
