The Central Heights school year has gone well so far, besides having to cancel the first day of the year because of flooding around the school. Superintendent Brian Spencer says the overall student numbers are down 9 students this year compared to last year, but increases in state funding per pupil have helped maintain the budget so far. However he says that one number affecting the district greatly is the number of at risk students, which has decreased dramatically.
Spencer says the money will have to come out of the general fund that may affect other student programs throughout the year. He adds that he has seen an increase in excitement this year among students and staff at the school.
