An Ottawa man was injured in an accident on I-35 yesterday near Edgerton. 20-year-old Elias White of Ottawa was outside his vehicle after it had spun out and into the median on the icy roads. While outside the car, a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Dereck Berry of Lebo, who was northbound, lost control on the ice, struck a guardrail and then left the road and entered the median, striking White. He was taken to Overland Park Regional for treatment of his injuries. This accident was part of a series of dozens of slide-offs not only on I-35 but all around the area caused by the icy conditions of the roads yesterday morning. The Kansas Highway Patrol urges all drivers to be aware of the road conditions at all times and slow down and buckle up.
